Egipcios Kier Tarot Deck

I’m proud to say I own the beautiful Egipcios Kier Tarot Deck.

Cover Card of the Egipcious Kier Tarot Deck

Created by the Argentine occultist, Iglesias Janeiro, in the early 20th Century, the Egipcios Kier deck was first published in 1971 (or thereabouts) and was only available in Spanish.  In 1984, U. S. Game Systems published an English version of these cards.

This set of 78 Tarot cards has 22 Major Arcana & 56 Minor Arcana with a gorgeous coppery gold leaf background on each card. Janeiro took the meanings for these cards from terms referenced in the Book of Tehuti, or if you prefer, the Book of Thoth. I rarely use the Greek names of the Neteru as it never feels right to me.  The Egipcios Kier veers from traditional decks as it doesn’t have suits. Instead, it features Egyptian hieroglyphs, the zodiac signs, planetary signs, numerology, & the Hebrew alphabet. These correspond with the physical, mental & spiritual planes we all exist in now.

I no longer have the booklet, sadly, but the 84 page booklet explained the cards, their meanings, & the symbolism behind the cards. Thankfully, I had the presence of mind to write it in a safe place. In this series of posts, I will share with you each card as well as the loose meanings & reverse meanings. The image below shows the anatomy of these beautifully detailed cards. The cards have three sections. The section above the featured image shows the hieroglyph, sigil, & magic letter. The section below shows the planet, zodiac sign, the Hebrew letter, & the card number.

This is by no means a full list, but I hope you enjoy learning about the cards in this magical deck.
